456 CHRIST'S TEACHINGS, MIRA ES AND CHURCH
They said, therefore, to Him, "What sign therefore dost Thou show, that we may see as it is written, 'He
gave them bread from heaven to eat?'"
Then Jesus said to them, ''Amen, amen, I s to
you. Moses g e you not bread from Heaven, but My Father giveth you the true bread from Heaven. For the bread of God is that ich cometh down from Heaven and giveth life to the world.'' The people said, "Lord, ve us always this bread." Jesus an swered, "I am the Bread of Life. Your fathers did eat manna in the desert and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from Heaven, that if any man eat of it, he may not die. I am the Living Bread which came down from Heaven. If any man eat this bread, he shall live forever. And the bread I w l give is My esh for the life of the world.'' Then the people began to murmur among themselves and to say, "How can this man give us his esh to eat 7'' But Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you. Except you eat the esh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you shall not have life in you. He that eateth My esh and drinketh My blood, hath life everlasting, and I will raise him on the last day. For My esh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. This is the bread that came down from Heaven, not as your fa thers did eat manna and are dead. He that eateth this bread shall live forever." Hearing this, the people began to murmur at Jesus and said, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he, 'I came down from Heaven.'"
