He spoke, and many of them said, ''This saymg 1s hard, and who can hear it 1"
Turning to them, Jesus said, ''Doth this scandalize you 1 Remember, it is the spirit that giveth life. The  esh pro teth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. And there are some of you that believe not."
Jesus knew from the beginning that some of His dis­ ciples would not believe in Him and that one of His apostles would betray Him. He said, ''Remember, I told you that no man can come to Me unless it be given him by My Father."
After this, many of His disciples went back to their homes and walked no more with Him.
Turning to the twelve apostles, Jesus said, "Will you also go away¥" Simon Peter answered Him, '' Lord, to whom shall we go 1 Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we have believed and have kno  that Thou art the Christ, the Son of God."
