her, "Woman, why weepest thou! Whom seekest thou?"
Thinking it was the caretaker, she said to Him, '' Sir, if thou hast taken Him hence, tell me where thou hast laid Him, and I will take Him away.'' Jesus said to her, ''Mary.'' Then she recognized Him and, falling down at His feet, said, "Rabboni, Master.'' Jesus said, ''Do not touch Me, for I am not yet ascended to My Father. But go to My brethren, and say to them: I ascend to My Father and to your Father, to My God and your God.''
Then He disappeared from her sight and she rose
up and hastened to Jerusalem and said to the apostles,
''I have seen the Lord, and these things He said to me.''  
When the guards who had been sent to watch the T  sepulcher recovered from the fright that came over them at the sight of the angel, they  ed to Jerusalem g  and told the high priest everything that had happened.
The high priest at once called the Sanhedrin together, in order to decide what should be done. They voted to give a great sum of money to the soldiers on condition that they would tell the people that the disciples of Jesus came by night and stole His body whilst they slept.
At  rst the guards hesitated, because they were afraid that Pilate would hear of it and punish them for their negligence in going to sleep. The chief priests told them that they would explain the whole matter to Pilate, so they took the money and, going
