"What has been doneT" They said, "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, Who was a prophet, mighty in work and word before God and all the people; and how our chief priests and princes delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him.· But we hoped that it was He that should have redeemed Israel. Now to y is the third day since these things were done. It is true that certain women of our company  o went to the sepulcher before dark did not  nd Ris body, and frightened us by coming back and saying that  ey had seen a vision of angels who say that He is alive. Some of our people went to the sepulcher and found that what the women said was true. But they did not  nd Jesus.''
Then Jesus said to them, ''0 foolish and slow of heart to believe in all things which the prophets have spoken. Ought not Christ to have su ered these things, and so to enter into His gloryt" And, begin­ ning at Moses and down through all the prophets, He explained all the things that the Scriptures had fore­ told concerning Him.
At last they drew nigh to the town whither they were going and, bidding them farewell, Jesus started to go on farther. But they begged Him to remain with them, saying, ''Stay with us, because it is toward evening, and the day is now far spent.'' And He went with them into Emmaus.
It oame to pass that whilst He was at table with them, He took bread, and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. That moment their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished out of their
