Scrabble players and often challenged each other’s spelling. She then called
the game Squabble. Amma was quite a determined person. Though she had
a driving licence she swore never to drive again after Appa reprimanded her
for once driving his car into a ditch. If she had an aversion to a person, it
was hard to get rid of. On the other hand, she’d go all out to assist anyone
once they warmed to her or valued her skills.
Lately, Amma found excuses not to wear her hearing aid. Her recent wise
crack was that it was Lord Muruga who needed it, as he was not hearing her
prayers to depart peacefully.
Amma rejoiced in the love and respect others had for her and returned that
in thought, word and deed. Her commitment to her kith and kin was
admirable. She was a fountain of knowledge to her five children. Many
others whom she nurtured and inspired are today leaders around the world
in their respective fields. Amma will be remembered for her generosity,
love and care, sense of wit, fostering capability and developing strong
characters by instilling holistic learning. She was truly an amazing woman.
