Create in 2D: Use mixed media to create an infographic showing you belong to a
global society
This is your final Formal Assessment Task for this phase of your High School experience. Make sure
that you really show off all that you have learnt over the past three years. Make yourself proud!
For this task, you are expected to complete the following:
1. Design an infographic- an infographic is a two-dimensional visual communication design that is
used to structure information to make it aesthetically pleasing and intriguing to the eye- so that
people will want to look at it as they find it visually entertaining. The function of an infographic is
to communicate often “boring” information to the specific target market clearly and concisely so
that they will understand and remember it. your information must communicate the human
experience of a global society- how the world is becoming “a smaller place” and how we are
being affected by the process of globalisation. You may need to do some research. Choose a
specific part of your daily experience for example, how music is affected, relationships or fast
food.
2. You may use any medium to create your infographic. You may complete it by hand or on the
computer. You may use your own photos, draw, paint, use markers or a graphic tablet.
3. The style if the design does not have to be realistic. It doesn’t even have spatially correct... but it
must show your experience of living in a global world- whether that it’s a positive or negative
experience or a little of both!
4. Before you begin deciding what the infographic will look like you must define your target market.
Define all the demographic details- age, culture, context, LSM, interests, religion, language etc.
this will determine the font type and size, colours, layout and style of your design. Also define
where the design will be
5. You are going to be working on A2 size paper. Within the infographic, include parts where you
vary the amounts of detail that you include to make the composition visually interesting.
6. Challenge yourself to develop your rendering techniques throughout this project. Each person
has a unique style of representation... so stop trying to draw like other people and develop your
own style. Think of interesting marks to make, layout techniques and interesting lines to record
what you have experienced and observed.
7. You must include linear perspective somewhere in your infographic to show off the skill you are
about to acquire.
8. You must include lettering and text as well as patterns and personal as well as global symbols.
You will have three lessons to complete your infographic. Please read through the rubric to see how
you will be assessed. If you are unsure of anything, ask questions so that you know what is expected.
