Foundation Tour de Whidbey Wrap
Update With an increase in ridership this year, the WhidbeyHealth
Foundation could not have been more pleased with the soaring
success of the annual Tour de Whidbey! We’d like to extend a big
thank you to our sponsors, staff, board members, volunteers and,
most of all, our riders, who all have reported only good things for
this year’s ride.
“We got great feedback from the riders that the break stations were
full of enthusiastic volunteers and delicious food and drinks,” says
Tour organizer Heather Zustiak. “They said the routes were easy to
follow, the scenery was gorgeous and the rider camaraderie made
everyone feel good.”
Added to the event this year was the challenging Perimeter of
Whidbey Endurance Route (POWER), about 160 miles with more
than 10,000 feet accumulated elevation. It did not disappoint. We
talked to each of the brave riders who took on this challenge, and
they all agreed that this is an excellent new addition to the Tour de
Whidbey. Nice job, POWER people!”

Gala Grows
to Vitalize Hospital
Well, it’s official. WhidbeyHealth’s second annual
Gala, “Growing Together,” was a huge success,
thanks to our community’s enthusiastic support!
Guests gathered at Dancing Fish Vineyards in
Freeland this past June for an evening of wonderful
food, fabulous wine, bidding and fun. We are
particularly grateful to our lead sponsors Island
Thrift and Windermere Real Estate Freeland, and
to sponsor Tobey Nelson Events and Design, who
transformed the venue into a garden paradise. More
than $100,000 was raised and will go toward our
campaign to remodel the Emergency Department
and lobby areas at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center.
We’d also like to extend a special thanks to our
gracious guests and volunteers, without whom this
event would not be possible. Once again you have WhidbeyHealth Quality Review Analyst, Maranda Artis, models
