Meet Doctor Marc A. Kirschner M.D.
Dr. Kirschner serves as Northwest
Hospital Neurology Clinic Chief and is
a UW clinical associate professor.
He is expert in the evaluation and care
of patients with disorders of the nerv-
ous system. Dr. Kirschner obtained his
undergraduate degree in Physics from
Middlebury College, and obtained his
M.D. (Continued below)
He completed his first and second years of residency in internal
medicine at Brown University (RIH) and Tufts University (Bay
State MC). He went on to study Neurology at McGill University
and the Montreal Neurological Institute.
He began a post-doctoral fellowship at the Howard Hughes Med-
ical Institute at Yale University and then received the Physician-
Investigator Development Award from NIH. He contributed to
the molecular characterization of several excitatory amino acid
transporters including their chromosomal localization while at
the Vollum Institute and Oregon Health Sciences University in
Portland, Oregon. He continued to serve as clinical faculty at Yale
and then OHSU where he was appointed assistant professor. He
began full time work as a clinical neurologist after moving to Se-
attle and Northwest Hospital in 1997. He his board-certified in
neurology and has expertise in the care of stroke & other severe
neurological disease as well as general outpatient neurology.
