Myths About Credit Scores
Because credit scores are such a huge part of the average consumer’s life, websites have
devoted a lot of writing, marketing and promotion to the topic of scores.
Most of the advice is decent and some of it is amazing, but every once in a while we find
weird or just flat-out wrong advice.
Myth 1: Credit Repair Agencies Have Magical Powers
As credit scores have become more of a big deal, credit-repair agencies have swooped
in like angels from financial heaven promising to rescue you from errors on your credit
reports.
Unfortunately, as credit expert John Ulzheimer once told us, they can’t do anything for
your credit history that you can’t do for yourself. These agencies tout amazing services
average consumers can’t access, which is a lie.
