Avoid Grinchy Credit Scores
by Controlling Your Holiday
Spending
The holidays are a time for joy for just about everyone and everything but your credit
scores.
According to a discussion we had with Experian expert Sandra Bernardo, Americans have
a bad habit of overspending during the holidays – you can expect to spend around $1,000.
Not only that, but only 38% of us create a budget specifically for holiday spending.
As we talked about earlier, not having a budget is a way of inviting overspending, higher
credit-card utilization and, ultimately, lower credit scores.
The holidays act like a vacuum that sucks up all good sense, compacting a year’s worth of
bad financial choices into one season.
