the sperm will not lead to fertilization [rendering its emis-
sion “for naught”] and other similar considerations. This
concern is even greater in our case, for who can guarantee
us that the woman will consent to become pregnant from
her husband’s sperm after his death, leading to greater con-
cern that the semen’s emission will have been for naught?
Therefore in practice, matters have to be considered ex-
tremely carefully, following the directives of rabbanim who
investigate every aspect of the question, judging each case
on its own merits.7
