Dr. Oak Grove had also confirmed the cold laser treatment at our early appointment a
couple of weeks ago, which made me feel even more comfortable with Dr. Sharma’s
original suggestion. At the end of my call with Dr. Sharma, he said he’d have his
assistant call me to set the appointment, which she did.
(Special Note) Let me sneak in here and say, Dr. Sharma is AWESOME. I couldn’t
believe I was getting a call from a doctor, that late at night, because he wanted to
share a case study regarding the new treatment we'd talked about. He made me feel
really comfortable and that I was important to him. All things you want from your
doctor.

Cold Laser Therapy
It’s time for cold laser therapy today. I arrived at my appointment with Dr.
Sharma. We met at a different location, because this type of treatment was new, rare
and required a laser that was at a different location. I was hopeful and
ready. Unfortunately, we had a little rocky start when I first got there. The laser
wasn’t set up correctly once Dr. Sharma got into the room. I must admit, it made me
a bit worried. This was a new and different treatment he'd never done before. I
stayed patient. After about 15 minutes he and the nurse got it fixed and they began
the cold laser treatment. I was a bit nervous, but once he explained to me what they
were going to do, I felt better. I didn’t feel a thing during the treatment and it was
over in a very short period of time.
The treatment felt like a normal eye exam, to be perfectly honest. They had me sit in
a chair in front of one of those eye machines you’d normally do. I pressed my head to
the machine and my chin in the resting position. On the other side of the eye
machine, Dr. Sharma was there. He was adjusting a laser that was pointing through
the machine as best I can describe. Once he was ready, he began. I didn’t feel a
thing. It took about 15 minutes, if I remember correctly. Then it was over. The nurse
game me the bag of clothes I'd brought. I put on the hat, glasses and gloves. I also
put a blank over my head just in case. I sure wish I had a picture of that. Jay lead me
out of the hospital to my car, with all of that on, blanket included. I’m laughing right
now at that funny site. My sweet Jay, thank goodness, I had him. Back to Tahoe Jay
and I went, where I’d have to stay inside for 5 days. I had a beautiful lake to look at, right from
the cabin window. I couldn't think of a better place to be stuck.
Finally, a month had passed. I hadn't seen any improvement, but I'd needed to wait until my
appointment with Dr. Sharma, to see if there were any changes inside my eye.
