WHAT IS CHOROIDAL MELANOMA

Choroidal melanoma is a type of cancer that affects part of the eye. It grows in

the choroid, the sponge-like tissue at the rear of the eye between the sclera

and the retina. The choroid is deep in blood vessels and delivers nutrients to

               the retina.

Over time, several choroidal melanomas develop and make the retina to

detach. This can result in vision loss. The tumors likewise can spread

(metastasize) to another part of the body. The liver is the most regular spot for

metastasis. If it spreads, this cancer can be deadly.
