REAL or NOT Real??
1. You receive the pop-up above. Is it real? Yes. This
popup is from GETS to verify the asset inventory and pops
up automatically before a machine refresh.
2. You receive an email from “Your IT Department” asking you to validate your email
account. Valid? No. IT will NEVER EVER EVER EVER ask you for your password. Never give your
password to ANYONE!! And don’t put it on a post-it note under your keyboard either!
3. You receive an email from someone you don’t know that looks like it is from another agency asking
you to click on a link. Legit? No. Emails can be easily spoofed which is copying the style of someone’s
email even using their writing style.
4. An unsolicited email asks you to click on a link, the email uses poor grammar. Legit? No. Poor
grammar is the number one tip off to a phishing email, don’t use this as your only guide. Spammers
have become increasingly more sophisticated and will use a copy of a valid website to trick you.
5. You receive an email from an Agency Director asking you to pay an invoice. Valid? Probably
not. Verify with the Finance department and the Director to verify if the request is real. Be sure to
follow purchasing processes in place. If in doubt, ask.
