Team Carrollton CSC
“We ain’t afraid of no ghosts!”

We recently stopped by the Carrollton CSC – located in West Georgia, neighboring on Alabama and home of the
University of West Georgia. CSC Manager Amanda Durham and Assistant Manager Mark Evans lead an awesome
mix of seasoned and fairly new driver examiners. This includes Sandra Young, a former AAMVA Driver Examiner of
the Year with nearly 16 years’ experience and newcomer Brandon Williams who completed NEO in July! They are
more than a team; they are a family. The Center rarely has turnover and seldom dips under the 100% service level.
As interesting as Team Carrollton is, their facility is a big part of their personality. Carroll County helped move our
driver examiners from the Villa Rica State Patrol Post to the current location in 2004. Our new location had served
as the county’s Alms House, sometimes called a poor farm, dating back to 1936. This is where men and women who
lacked money and/or family to care for them in their later years could live. The building sits between an old prison
and Alms House Cemetery -- all three are on the county’s Registry for Historic Preservation.
The building always triggered talk of ghosts and things that go bump in the night. However, we are sure that any
ghosts that may be left are only the good kind!
