House Distracted Driving Study Committee Concludes Work

ALPHARETTA - The House Study Committee on Distracted Driving held its final meeting
on October 30th in Alpharetta. Committee members heard from several presenters from
the public health community—including officials from Emory Healthcare, WellStar, and
the Georgia Department of Human Services—in addition to prosecutors and personal
injury attorneys. Copies of meeting agendas, presentations, and recorded video streams
can be found at: http://www.house.ga.gov/Committees/en-US/DistractedDriving.aspx

The Committee, chaired by Rep. John Carson, is the result of House Resolution 282 (2017).
It is very likely that the Committee will be recommending legislative changes next Session
aimed at enhancing enforcement and strengthening penalties associated with distracted
driving.
