Meet the members of the faculty’s health

Dear Readers,
I’m delighted to present you with the sixth issue
of the periodical of the Faculty of Mechanical
Engineering at the Technion. The best response
we can offer for the calamities that befall the
continue researching, teaching, and learning with
all our might and all our courage.
Our cover story in this issue takes us into the
groundbreaking research conducted by our
faculty members and reveals the extent to which
modern mechanical engineering has become
multidisciplinary, dynamic, and challenging; and
the extent to which it can successfully address
humanity’s varied needs.
We will meet Dr. Ronen Ben Horin – a faculty
graduate who today serves as the Vice President
of Technology at software giant PTC – who will tell
us about the launch of a new development center,
a joint initiative between PTC and the Technion.
We will also look at the groundbreaking
engines being developed by Assoc. Prof.
Leonid Tartakovsky and his team at the Internal
Combustion Engines Laboratory, which have the
potential to kickstart a global revolution; we will
discover the innovative materials being developed
by Assoc. Prof. Gal Shmuel and his research team
and the impressive advances in water purification
technology by Assoc. Prof. Matthew Suss and his
team; we will report on the large number of grants
and prizes won in the faculty, including first prize
in the exciting Formula Student competition; and
we’ll get to know one of our post-doctoral fellows
faculty library.
As always, we would be happy to hear from you
and receive feedback, advice, and suggestions for
additional achievements or fields of interest we
should cover.
