Good engineers are no longer enough:
      the industry desperately needs
      multidisciplinary engineers

Dr. Ronen Ben Horin started out in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the
Technion but moved from academia to industry after realizing that the industry
was fertile ground for research at the forefront of technology. Now, as vice
president of technology at product lifecycle management software giant PTC,
he is orchestrating the launch of a new development center, a collaboration
between PTC and the Technion. He explains how the surprising disparity
between industry and academia came about, and how we can fix it and meet
the industry’s huge demand for professionals
