Avradel Flood Manual
Preparing for a flood
• Smart Phones
Being able to communicate with friends, family, local flood
groups and the emergency services is paramount if you are at
risk of flooding.
Other useful devices are computer tablets and laptops.
Prior to any storm reaching your location, ensure that your
phone, tablet & laptop are fully charged. Additional ‘charge
banks’ can be purchased for your phone to extend its use.
To extend the battery life of your phone turn down the
brightness setting.
[Remember: taking photos, videos on your phone reduces the
life of your charged battery]
• If you are at risk of potentially being flooded, take every action
possible to prevent your house/business being flooded by
reviewing where water could potentially enter your
home/business. By using various flood devices that are available
on the market you can help to stop or minimise the flood
damage.
• Soft furnishings such as chairs, sofa’s, rugs, cushions etc are
rarely reusable once wet. Where possible move any soft
furnishings to an upper floor to stop or minimise risk of damage.
• Items such as photographs and albums can be lost due to water
damage. Consider copying your photos onto disc and perhaps
even storing a copy of the discs at another location.
• Where possible move all electrical equipment from the ground
floor to the first floor of your home/business.
