workers) welcomed into Colstocks for lockdown. Blended on-site and online learning across the school
community commenced and it was a triumph.
Our magnificent boarders working remotely in Hong
Kong decided to change their sleep patterns due to the time difference and attended the majority of their classes while pupils on-site were supervised in school during the day and journeyed down to Eastbourne College for supper in the evenings to consolidate the charity’s catering arrangements.
Sadly, government restrictions at that time meant that our planned trips had to be cancelled. However, classed as a
household bubble, we all enjoyed frequent walks down to the beach or along the South Downs. Our regular weekend catch up calls for boarders here and abroad were a hit too, ensuring the whole boarding community stayed in touch and kept it thriving.
On Monday 8 March, we were delighted to welcome back the remaining English boarders for the final two weeks of the spring term but, just twelve days later, we were helping the Colstocks community zip up their suitcases and were waving them goodbye and wishing them a happy Easter holiday. The break was a little shorter than usual for Mrs Tomsett and me though as we were joined by the returning overseas boarders
