I am Ronnie Stewart Sr., a V eteran, and I served in the Department of
Defense. I worked for 38 years in my combined military and civilian service.
During my military service career, I faithfully served my country I was
instrumental in providing support to worldwide military operations and our
warfighters, along with protecting information that was vital to national
security . I was designated as mission essential and required to report to work
under all weather conditions. When I reported to work, I took great pride in
knowing that my work protected this nation.
I am William J. Stoner Sr ., and my career with the Department of Defense
spanned 50 years, from 1962 to 2012, including four years with the U.S. Air
Force (USAF) Security Service, 33 years with the National Security Agency
(NSA) and 13 years as a contractor at NSA. In the Air Force, I spent time in
T exas and Turkey , reporting on USAF communications security issues. My
NSA career included two 3-year tours in the United Kingdom during the
1970s, a 3-year tour of duty in Japan, in the early 1980s, and two years in
Okinawa, Japan, in the mid 1990s, supporting U.S. military commands with
National-level intelligence information.
A few of the highlights of my career included supporting U.S. Army
commands in Japan, accompanying them to various military locations in
Japan and in the U.S., where they performed bilateral exercises with their
Japanese Self-Defense Force counterparts. My role was to provide simulated
National-level intelligence information to U.S. Forces during the exercises. I
also accompanied Japan-based U.S. Marine Corps personnel to provide
simulated National-level intelligence support to them during exercises aboard
th
the U.S. 7 Fleet Command ship, the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19).
I held a variety of jobs at NSA from Intelligence Reporter to Staff Officer to
Division Chief to upgrading communications equipment for our U.S. military .
It was an honor to serve.

employee and retiree organization in the United States and U.S. T erritories,
dedicated to protecting the earned rights and benefits of America’s active and
retired federal workers. As a federal employee, I served as a civilian in the
