my retirement, the President‘s Council renamed its Better Government Award
in my honor. My Federal career has resulted in improved economy, efficiency

and effectiveness of many federal programs; helped congressional oversight
of government programs; and provided substantial savings of American
            taxpayers’ dollars.

                                        U.S. OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

I am Reg Jones a Veteran and I was a charter member of the Senior Executive
Service. From 1979 until my retirement in 1995, I served as an assistant

director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for a variety of
personnel areas, including recruiting and examining, white and blue collar
            pay, and retirement and insurance.

From 1977 to 1979, I was Deputy Director of the Bureau of Policies and
Standards in the U.S. Civil Service Commission.

In 1974, I was one of 25 managers selected for the first Federal Executive
Development Program (FEDP) sponsored by the Office of Management and
Budget (OMB). I attended the Federal Executive Institute (FEI) and served
on assignment as Special Assistant to the Deputy Administrator for

Management at the Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of
            Agriculture (USDA).

From 1971 until I was selected for the FEDP, I was the Assistant Director for

Training Management in the Commission's Bureau of Training. Prior to
joining the Commission in 1962, I spent four years with the Department of
Army as a civilian instructional methods specialist.

From 1956 to 1958, I served a tour with the U.S. Army and then served for six
            years in the active reserve.

Among the awards received while employed by the government are the
Director's Award for Superior Accomplishment, the Commissioners' Award
for Distinguished Service, and a meritorious award for exemplary

achievement in public administration from the William A. Jump Memorial
            Foundation.

Since retiring, I have written numerous books on retirement and insurance
