TAMPA METROPOLITAN AREA YMCA
INTRODUCTION
Commissioned by the Tampa YMCA Oversight Committee (May 2019), this handbook was developed to ensure consistency in the functioning of local Y Advisory Boards and provide resources to Advisory Board Members and Chairs.
Advisory Board Member Expectations
TIME
• Three-year term
• Attend more than 50% of monthly board meetings
• Attend campaign events during the year (trainings, kick-offs, celebrations, etc.)
• Serve on at least one committee that averages four to eight meetings annually

TREASURE
- Social Responsibility (Philanthropy) - Facilities
- Healthy Living Programs
• Give personally to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign at a leadership level
• Actively share the Y story and ask your Circle of Influence to support our Annual Campaign
• Participate in family center capital fundraising efforts
TALENT
• Use professional skills and personal expertise to help further the YMCA’s mission and goals • Advocate for the Y in the community and secure resources that support our cause
• Participation on chosen committees
• Advisor to the Executive Director
