RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ADVISORY BOARD
Section 1: Stewardship
The administration of policies and the function of planning for the Center is the responsibility of staff.
The stewardship of the Center is a primary responsibility of the Advisory Board.
1. To progressively expand and strengthen the Center financial development capabilities through
effective programs of annual support campaigns, planned capital campaigns, and endowment
programs.
2. To plan, evaluate, and make recommendations that progressively improve Center practices in the
identification, cultivation, recruitment, and recognition of prospective donors and volunteers for
current support, capital campaign, and grants.
3. To review and assist in the development of campaign strategy with particular attention to campaign
case statements and an emphasis of the importance of the Advisory Board in campaign leadership.
4. To establish and assist in the planning of at least one (1) primary Center fundraising project.
Section 2: Programs & Services
The responsibility for Programs and Services is primarily the function of Y staff and product line
(Association) leaders. The Advisory Board provides support and feedback to ensure that programs and
services meet community needs and fulfill the Y mission and
strategic plan.

the community and suggest programs and services to
address those needs in accordance with the purpose of
the policies of the Association.
Ensure that all persons within the service area of the
Center have the opportunity to participate in YMCA
services without regards to age, sex, race, religion,
creed, national origin, or physical disability.
Ensure membership and services are available and subsidized to the economically disadvantaged
members of the community through the successful planning and implementation of Center fund
raising activities.
Provide advice and counsel to the Center Executive and ensure that actions of the Center meet the
ethical and quality standards of the YMCA and community.
