General Report
Celebrating 15 Years of Hope and Healing for Children
Sending summer wishes to you, along with an enormous thanks for partnering
with us to impact the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. Your gifts this
quarter were used across our many program areas, and we’d love to share just a
few stories of the children you helped over the last few months.
This beautiful little girl is Agnes
from our Sibling School in rural
Cambodia. She lives in Sokhem
Village, a remote and severely
impoverished area where we
discovered over 70% of the
children were suffering from
chronic malnourishment.
Thanks to our Sibling School
program, all the babies and
toddlers in the village now
attend an early intervention
program where they receive
extra nutrition (including both breakfast and lunch), with the goal of making sure
no future children face physical stunting or long-term health issues from a lack of
food. Agnes is now developing perfectly on target, which is what we love to see!
General funds are also used in Sokhem Village to
employ a full-time medic. He is super dedicated to
his work, as since there is no access to medical
care in this rural region, he is on call 24/7! On any
given day (and night) he will be found sewing up
deep cuts with stitches, stabilizing broken bones,
treating fevers and a variety of other childhood
issues. During June, our medic was kept busy
dealing with a village outbreak of chicken pox.
Poor sweet Agnes was one of the children who
broke out in red spots, but we’re happy to report
that she is now back to feeling healthy again.
