3-year-old Rachael for a heart cath
procedure in Uganda. This beautiful
little girl was born with an extremely
complex heart condition, and hospitals
in the US and India needed more
information to decide whether or not
she is operable. Her heart cath
originally had to be postponed, as when
we arranged for her to go to a hospital
in the capital city of Kampala, she was
diagnosed with malaria. Following that
treatment she underwent her heart
catheterization, and we were overjoyed
when doctors at the Mayo Clinic
reviewed her hearth cath results and
said an operation is possible. We sure
would appreciate every good thought
being sent her way as we continue our
work to find a hospital open to
accepting her case.
Finally for this update, we want to
thank you for your general fund
gifts as they make our Safe Haven
foster care program in Cambodia
possible. This program is for
children who have lived through
unthinkable things such as human
trafficking. While we don’t ever
show the children’s faces in this
program, to protect them from
those who have hurt them in the
past, we want you to know that
because of your compassion and willingness to help children in need....you are
bringing safety and security to kids like 4-year-old Alkira. When she first came
into our program, we honestly wondered if she could ever recover, but every
single month with her caring and supportive foster mom, she is learning to trust
the world again. It wouldn’t be possible without you.
