Judith and her parents before the Wedding
The Honeymoon was of the sort of which dreams are made. We drove to the
northern part of the island, visited Montego Bay and rented a chalet near Ocho
Rios, dunked ourselves in Dunns River Falls, and enjoyed some of the world’s
finest beaches. And let me not forget to say that I was the subject of many pained
male glances; one, perhaps two young girls on a honeymoon … but four!
It was a shame to return to Vancouver, but study had to go on. The next
semester saw the same sort of courses, though suddenly Economics became much
more difficult, our lecturer being the estranged wife of Saunders of ‘Samuelson
Saunders’ Principles of Economics’. I got full marks, but suddenly it was much
more difficult than the first half of the course (one poor soul in the class was
having his fourth attempt at it; I advised him that he might be best to try another
discipline, advice that I suspect he ignored). As before, I retained the Saturday
parts-man job and had a few other ‘nothing’ jobs, but it paid for the groceries; for
many reasons, Eatons was the perfect employer.
