Trump’s Economic Era

United States Department of Education to evaluate
whether the federal government has “overstepped its
legal authority” because he believes that the
government should return public education to parents
and localities. The reason national standards are so
worrisome is that they grant too much power to a
central authority. People in a free society should have
the freedom of choice when it comes to educating their
            children.

The U.S. Department of Education put out a
memo in July of 2009 which stated,

                        “President Barack Obama and
                   U.S. Secretary of Education Arne
                   Duncan today announced that states
leading the way on school reform will
be eligible to compete for $4.35 billion
in Race to the Top competitive grants to
                   support education reform and
                   innovation in classrooms. ”

The stipulation was that once a state accepted the
money they had to abide by the Common Core
standards. Not all states joined the 45 states and the
District of Columbia in adopting the standards.
            Governor Rick Perry has stated,

“Texas is on the right path toward
improved education, and we would be
foolish and irresponsible to place our
children’s future in the hands of unelected
