5.1.3 The Contractor
will be responsible for and will be deemed to
have included in his price for:
• undertaking role of Principal Contractor in
accordance with the CDM Regulations 2015
• undertaking construction phase under CDM
Regulations
• preparing construction phase Health and
Safety plan prior to commencement of the
works
• liaising with Building Control/Approved
Inspector, ensuring all works comply with
building control and fire officer
• coordinating with the statutory services
provider and integrating service providers’
work into the construction programme,
providing attendance where necessary
• undertaking detailed setting-out survey
prior to commencing manufacture or fit-out
and advising the PM/Design Team of any
significant variances
• coordinating with and integrating into the
construction programme, delivery and
setting out of items supplied by others
• providing comprehensive Health and Safety
file on completion of the works incorporating
the Operation and Maintenance manual
• responsibility for the security of the site and be charged back to the Principal Contractor.

accepting instruction from the employer to
proceed with the works, including the price
for necessary out of hours, or weekend work
• acting as keyholder for the duration of the
works and to make suitable arrangements
so access to the premises is available at all
times in the event of emergencies
5.1.3 The Contractor
It is one of the standard DP UK&I Ltd conditions
that the shopfitting company acts as “Principal
(Main) contractor”. As such it is the shopfitter’s
responsibility to contact ALL other suppliers
and contractors and ensure that their delivery
and/or installation dates are arranged and
confirmed to suit the shopfitter’s programme.
However, it is the main contractor’s responsibility
to ensure all facilities are in place to enable
others to complete their works on the appointed
days i.e. electrical works advanced enough to
allow phone installation, etc.
Where appropriate, the Principal Contractor
is issued with a copy of the Domino’s
purchase order schedule with contact details.
Other suppliers are normally given a “week
commencing” delivery date. The Principal
Contractor must therefore plan the works
and make arrangements for specific dates
as required. Be aware that some suppliers
have significant lead times. DO NOT expect
immediate delivery. If there are problems with
cooperation and availability from suppliers, the
Employer should be advised as soon as possible.
If site events require a change to a previously
booked date, the Principal contractor MUST
rearrange, providing as much notice as possible.
