Why Do We Say “ םילשוריב האבה הנשל ” in Nirtza? ‐ Eve Vaknin (8th Grade)
Rabbi David Feinstein suggests in the Anah Dodi Haggadah: we say the phrase “ םילשוריב האבה השל ” because
we have already expressed the 4 expressions of redemption at the seder. It says in Sefer Shemot - “I will FREE
you from the labors of the Egyptians. I will REDEEM you... I will RESCUE you... I will TAKE you to be my
people…” (6:6-7). But there is also a 5th word used for redemption: “I will BRING you into the land”. We have
not yet talked about this one in the haggadah. We show the 5th expression of redemption because we want to
perform the Seder in the Land of Israel. We always should say the phrase “ םילשוריב האבה השל ,” whether or not
you live in Jerusalem because we always want to be in the holy land of Jerusalem.
