a trespasser and you carry the name CNN with you. I don’t know about
you, but I have a duty to protect this news program. (CNN Reporter)
(He looks up at the lights). So, are you telling me that I don’t have a
loyalty to my job or co-workers? Fuck that. Audrey, this is the story of
the century, I can feel it in my gut. But, more importantly (he points to
the map of Arizona) people live there and they are being exploited, used
and turned into modern day slaves. Don’t turn away from this story. Let
me do my job. (CNN Editor) Allen, who is the boss here? (She paused). I
said no, you can’t have my consent to do the story. (She turns away from
Allen).
Allen and his camera man starts to walk out the editor’s office.
(CNN Editor) Allen.
He stops without turning around.
(CNN Reporter) Yes, Boss? (CNN Editor) I still won’t give you my go-
ahead to do this story, but when has the word no ever stopped you?
(CNN Reporter) Thanks, Audrey, I know you wouldn’t let me down. (CNN
Editor) Don’t thank me. My position is still no, for the record. (She
smiles). Now, get to work.
Switch to Ben over at Tracey’s house with three of their friends
talking.
(Nick) Ben, did you hear that we will be put out of the reservation?
(Jackie) My father was talking about that also. At one point we had 90%
employment, now it’s as if we are totally out of work. (She looks at Ben).
Ben sits in the center of the group not saying a word. Switch the
scene to Yoshi at the construction site.
(Crew Chief) Over here Mr. Kim. (Pointing to the wall). This is what I’m
talking about. (Yoshi) This what? (Crew Chief) This rock face. We can’t
as much as put a nick in it. (Yoshi) What, man, are you blind? It has
markings on the rock face which implies it can be nicked. Shit, man, get it
done. (Crew Chief) Ok Mr. Kim, watch this. (He points to his crew).
