P. 342

Come to me quickly, I will save your soul this day.

                  469.  WHO IS HE ..

               Who is he that comes from Edom?
                  His attire's crimson stained;
                I can see His hands are punctured,
                   And His side is sorely cut.
                Who's this man of many sorrows?
                  Deeply wounded is his flesh;
                Tell me why have men disfigured
                  Such a noble and kind face?
                        CHORUS
                 He is Christ, the King of glory,
                 To save lives He gave His own;
              Praise His Name, and now proclaim Him
                 He's thy Prince, He is thy Lord.
                           2
                  Who is He? Why is He hated?
                On the winepress stepped alone?
                 Why forlorn and why forsaken?
                 Not one friend to comfort Him.
                 When in anguish and affliction,
                No complaint was heard from Him;
                 Like a lamb to death departed,
                  He was mute until His death.
                           3
                 He is wearing a King's garment,
                 And a crown He wears, it's true;
                  'Tis not golden, it is thorny,
                  And His scepter's but a stick.
                Why do they mock Him so coldly?
                 Without mercy He is whipped.
                  They all spit upon His visage,
                   Is this man a vile crook?
