P. 363

The herd is secure in the fold;
                    But far in the cliffs without guidance,
                        A sheep is in danger alone.
                     The cliff is engulfed in a thick fog,
                    The wand'ring sheep hides in a den,
                   However the good Shepherd found her,
                     And carries her safely back home.
                              CHORUS
                    He calls in the midst of the dark storm,
                    He bled on the path as He searched;
                   Praise Jesus because He has found her,
                     For I know that the lost lamb was I.
                                 2
                     The wilderness fills Him with terror,
                     The thistles are piercing His feet;
                      But He is determined to find it,
                       Defying a treacherous death,
                     And anxiously Jesus is searching,
                   The lamb has absorbed all his thoughts;
                    At last the Lord's quest is completed,
                      He carries her safely back home.
                                 3
                     The prodigal boasts in her safety,
                      She's resting in  His loving arms;
                      And in jubilation she cries out,
                   What fortune! What bliss! What delight!
                      The terrible night is behind her,
                  The dawn breaks and day is approaching;
                    The sheep that was lost is delivered,
                     And again she is safe with the fold.

                  I will plant the most precious of seedlings,
                      Of the glorious gospel of love;
                     I will plant and be joyful so doing,
                     For the Lord loves a generous soul.
