UC/CSU-Subject C PREREQUISITE: A grade of “B” or better in both semesters of Algebra II
This course is taken subsequent to the successful completion of Algebra II. Math Analysis focuses on the following topics: trigonometry, analytic geometry, matrices, probability, statistics, polar coordinates, rotations, translations, infinite series, curve sketching, transformation of curves, and limits. A graphing utility will be used as a problem-solving tool.
COURSE: MATH ANALYSIS HONORS YEAR COURSE: 10 credits COURSE CODE: MGPH GRADES: 11, 12
UC/CSU-Subject C PREREQUISITE: A grade of “B” or better in Algebra II Honors
The initial emphasis will be placed on analysis & applications associated with the following topics: Functions, Trigonometry, Inequalities, Partial Fraction Decomposition, Sequences & Series (including Math Induction), Rotation of Axes for Conics, Parametric & Polar topics, & Vectors. Most of the other topics previously covered in this course overlap with those already taught in Algebra II Honors & may be reviewed &/or enriched at the discretion of the instructors. After the pre-calculus topics have been presented, the remainder of the year will be devoted to an extensive introduction to Calculus. Topics included will be limits, derivatives with applications, and an introduction to the basic concepts involved in integration. Math Analysis Honors follows the same objectives as outlined in Math Analysis P but in more depth and at a faster pace. A graphing calculator will be used as a problem solving tool.
COURSE: CALCULUS AB ADVANCED PLACEMENT YEAR COURSE: 10 credits COURSE CODE: MHAH GRADES: 12
UC/CSU-Subject C
PREREQUISITE: A grade of “C” or better in both semesters of either Math Analysis or Math
Analysis Honors.
This course will cover all of the designated AB topics with an extensive AP review period prior to the AP exam, supplemented as appropriate for the target group of college prep students. Additional enrichment topics will be introduced after the AP exam and prior to the final exam. A graphing calculator is required for the AP exam and will be used as a problem solving tool.
COURSE: HONORS CONCEPTUAL CALCULUS
COURSE CODE: HCCAL
CALABASAS ONLY
PREREQUISITE: A grade of “C” or better in both semesters of either Math Analysis P or Math Analysis H
YEAR COURSE: 10 credits GRADES: 12 UC/CSU-Subject C
The Honors Conceptual Calculus course is similar in content and rigor to the AP AB Calculus course. Students who enroll in this course will not take the AP exam, allowing extra time for topic reinforcement and extra practice. The course covers functions, limits and continuity, differentiation and integration of functions of a single real variable. This course introduces students the power of calculus in solving real-world problems applications from higher level sciences. A graphing utility
will be used as a problem solving tool.
