Afterwards, he came to tell them about a strange dream; "Two invisible men held me as they forced me to climb a high ladder to the top of a skyscraper. They made me look down and said, Tf you turn back from now on, that's where you will land.' "
Deeply moved, he continued, "Do you think Jesus will deliver me?"
They assured him that He would. They took him to Tekle and Erkenesh for prayer, and the Lord restored his mind. They gave him a copy of Tekle's book, Divine Power, and he learned that heartfelt repentance WOUld cancel the addiction of sin. Tekle baptized Yohannes; three of Marta's children. Brook, Samuel, and Wondossen; Sophia's two, Samson and Suzy; and another young lady in the Akaki River. By obedience, the outcast for thirty years received deliverance and became a new creation in Christ. This caused several officials related to the Asfaws to gain new respect for the gospel.
The government's permission for the Wendells to re main in the country depended on their activity in some type of social or educational services. They felt led to begin their work among the lepers. They built the Medhane- Alem Rehabilitation Center in the northern part of the city, across the road from the French Embassy. Brother Wendell built looms, and he taught the lepers, according to their various conditions and abilities, to weave carpets, build chairs, or make small wooden articles.
The workrooms surrounded a chapel where the workers gathered regularly for prayer and Bible study. Moved with compassion and sincerity, the Wendells brought lepers from their abode in the cemetery; however, the lepers, whose very existence from ancient times had
