The polarization of politics in the US continues at seemingly every level of
government and appears to be driven by an increasingly divided public.
With 24/7 news coverage via many different media options, all of us seem
G overnor Steve Bullock to watch and/or listen only to news that is presented with our own biases.

The trust in those that provide us the news has been eroded and news-
casters such as Walter Cronkite and Huntley/Brinkley don’t exist anymore
and perhaps never will again. Where is the middle or does it even exist
anymore? Additionally, both political parties seem to be undergoing an
identity crisis and significant demographic transformations. Oftentimes
we see more examples of bipartisanship at the state level than we do at
the federal level because states are mandated to have balanced budgets.
This morning, former Governors Steve Bullock of Montana and John Ka-
sich of Ohio will discuss this difficult political landscape, how we got here
and how we might be able to extricate ourselves from the quagmire.
