A guest lecture on the topic “Satellite and RADAR in Atmospheric
Studies” was conducted on 18 of August 2017 by

Dr._Sivaramakrishnan, Former Director, India

Metrological Department. This guest lecture was organized

by Prof._N. Chandrasekar Around 60 students from first year B.

tech attended the lecture. Electromagnetic wave propagation

and wireless communication. Transmission of weather and

atmospheric data to the earth stations from the weather and

remote sensing satellites are explained. The topic of Radio

Telescope is also briefly discussed.

A guest lecture on the topic “Efficient Processing of Range

Queries” was conducted on 25 of September 2017 by Dr.

Madhavan Mukund, Professor & Dean, Mathematical Institute,

Siruseri. This guest lecture was organized by Dr. Susan Elias and

Dr. Suganthi K. Around 105 students from second year B. tech

attended the lecture. The methodology to extract prefix sums was

explained and illustrated with suitable examples. Segment Trees

were introduced and along with Point queries and interval updates

were discussed.
