every entry, in its own way, has the same overarching message: be kind to
our planet by recycling and conserving energy. This year was no exception.
Of the 157 entries received and reviewed by SERT staff, 71 were moved into
the final phase of judging. Then MCPS students and staff were invited to an
online poll and an open house event to select the winners for 2019. We’re
pleased to announce that 2,225 people voted and we have excellent winning
pieces in each category. They’re featured on page 2 and on our website.
The first and second place winning entries will be on display at the Rockville
Memorial Library during the month of June. New posters, created from some
of this year’s winning entries, will be sent to schools in the fall via Pony.
Thank you to everyone who participated in and/or promoted the 2019 Watts
Up? poster contest. Contestants and judges are both crucial to success of this
event, and SERT appreciates you all.
