impact on our energy use and savings. After experiencing an incredibly hot T

that we can expect a much colder, longer winter with a higher than average Benjamin Banneker MS has

freezing temperatures, which will directly impact our energy costs. What’s happening in your school?
As we look at the month of December, we’ve already experienced a few days
where the actual low temperature dropped below 32 degrees. As the month
continues, more of these extreme cold periods are in the forecast. When
extreme cold temperatures are predicted during the overnight hours, take the
steps needed to prevent pipes from freezing, to retain the heat in the building,
and to conserve energy.
While in freeze protection mode, EMS will control your building. Please ensure
that the exhaust fans are turned off in the building as much as possible during
the overnight hours. Exhaust fans are normally housed in the kitchen, rest-
rooms, and the science laboratories but they may also be located in other areas
of the school. Keep a list of the of the exhaust fans that you’ve turned off to
make it easier to bring them all back to service on the next morning.
