Empowering Word
Sequencing refers to the order in which events happened. Sequencing is often made easier
by the use of transition words. Following are some of the most common words and
expressions used to sequence when writing or speaking.
a. Beginning phrases in use include:
1. To begin with, I began my education at Solo.
2. First of all, I opened the cupboard.
3. To start with, we decided our destination was Malang.
4. Initially, I thought it was a bad idea.
b. Continuing the story
1. Then, I started to get worried.
2. After that, we knew that there would be no problem!
3. Next, we decided on our strategy.
4. As soon as we arrived, we unpacked our bags.
c. Ending the Story
1. Finally, I flew to Semarang for my study with my father.
2. In the end, he decided to postpone the project.
3. Eventually, we became tired and returned home.
