The Early Learning Coalition of Duval is preparing to hold
another Town Hall Meeting to try and chart a course on:
 How to move forward with new legislation, including
House Bill 1091. This bill increases quality and
accountability in the School Readiness Program. The
program assessment tool that will be used is the
Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS). The
CLASS assessment is recognized internationally for
capturing the elements within a classroom that
improve child outcomes. This assessment primarily
measures the quality of classroom interactions
between teachers and children.

 Guiding Stars of Duval

The Town Hall Meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd from 6:00-7:30 pm at FSCJ
Downtown... in the large auditorium, located in Building A. It is open to all Duval County
providers.

SB 970: Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program
Senator Dennis Baxley (R) has introduced a new bill that will require the principals of
certain public elementary schools to take specified actions to facilitate communication
and collaboration with private prekindergarten providers; requiring the Office of Early
Learning and early learning coalitions to provide specified support to such school
principals; providing an effective date.
