The ELC of Duval knows the importance of “training employees.” “The return on investment
from training and development of employees is really a no brainer,” says Denise Marzullo.
“We offer a wide array of training opportunities at the ELC, which truly gives employees a
greater understanding of their responsibilities, while at the same time strengthening skills
and providing background knowledge.”
Webinars are made available to employees monthly on everything from “Better
Communications,” to “Setting Clear Goals.” Staff also enjoy many in-house trainings and
workshops, including “Trauma Informed Care.” A huge thanks to Ashley Sweat-Meissner,
MS, RMHCI, a Clinical Program Supervisor at the Children’s Home Society of NE Florida for
conducting the training, which offered positive strategies for helping people who have
survived traumatic events in their lives and how to better understand why some people
behave the way they do.
The United Way of Northeast Florida also allowed employees to participate in a poverty
simulation experience to better understand what it might be like to be a part of a typical
low-income family in Duval County trying to survive month to month.
