            musical notations and pentagrams, 5 engraved plates on lithography hand-colored at
            the time representing the scenes for the work afer drawings by Sanquirico. Bound in full

            First edition, of great rarity, extra illustrated with plates after Sanquirico. Il Talismano,
            with libretto by Gaetano Barniere on a text by Walter Scott, was the first performance
            at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, staged on June 10, 1829. The book, with all pages en-
            graved, is extra illustrated with 5 magnificent engraved plates in lithograph, hand-col-
            ored at the time, invented and drawn by Alessandro Sanquirico representing scenes for
            the work of Il Talismano. The plates included in this volume correspond to Sanquirico’s
            designs for this opera, they are numbered 165 to 169. A copy of exceptional rarity and
            beauty, bound in a beautiful contemporary navy blue morocco binding.
