Roadmap Creation

• The benefits of a roadmap that aligns IT initiatives to their business include elevation
of the relevance of the IT department, clarity regarding IT investment requirements
and increased alignment between business outcomes and IT solutions

• A roadmap should provide a path for projects or initiatives that is consistent with the
overall architectural direction and should include scope alignment and boundaries,
adoption and consumption considerations and governance planning and procedures

• Validating the roadmap and all assumptions with the customer is critical in gaining
commitment to move forwards

• Try to position those solutions components which have few or no dependencies and
which generate cash quickly as early on as possible within your roadmap

• Organizations that are less comfortable with technology and may be more sceptical
regarding benefits and risk are classified as Late Majority
