Step 1 (cont.)
The word “no” is the same in both English and Spanish. It’s also a Little Word: no Anytime you want to make a statement negative, simply add ”no” before the action. It’s just that easy!
Yo no quiero __.
Now for even more good news:
1. There are only two contractions in the Spanish language: al & del
2. They are very easy.
3. We are going to learn them later becuase you do not need them yet.
Here’s what you need to know now:
There is no difference in Spanish between: do not and don’t (cannot / can’t, etc.)
So there you have it!
This is one area of Spanish that is actually easier than English. You will not have to learn to speak and write a huge multitude of contractions.
It just can’t get any easier:
I do not want __. (or) I don’t want __. = Yo no quiero __.
Now read each one of these out loud three times each (it’s a little corny, but it works!):
Yo quiero __. (pause) I want __.
Yo no quiero __. (pause) I do not want __. / I don’t want __.
All too easy right!
Now go directly to: Level1Spanish.com/step1-flashcards and practice them over and over again until you can do them all backwards and forwards in your sleep—then proceed to Step 2.
