• Concrete contaminated with alkalis: Remove excess alkalis by steam
cleaning or flushing with high-pressure water. Scrub surface with a strong
commercial detergent using 1 pound per gallon of warm water. Use power
scrubber or steel bristles to remove all loose cement and/or aggregate. Flush
with clean water. Dry thoroughly.
After the concrete has been treated in this manner, follow the
recommended surface preparation procedures described under New
Concrete section above. All concrete to receive the corrosion-resistant
floor coating must be surface dry and free of contaminants that would
affect the bond of the corrosion-resistant floor coating to the concrete.
Steel
Steel base/floor plates should be abrasive blasted to a near white metal
finish, SSPC-10 or NACE-2.
SSPC-SP10 or NACE-2 – Near-White Blast Cleaning
A Near-White Blast Cleaned surface, when viewed without magnification,
shall be free of all visible oil, grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust, paint, oxides,
corrosion products, and other foreign matter, except for staining. Staining
shall be limited to no more than five percent of each square-inch of surface
area and may consist of light shadows, slight streaks, or minor discoloration
caused by stains of rust, stains of mill scale, or stains of previously applied
paint. Before blast cleaning, visible deposits of oil or grease shall be removed
by any of the methods specified in SSPC-SP1 or other agreed upon methods.
For complete instructions, refer to Joint Surface Preparation Standard SSPC-
SP10/NACE No. 2
Concrete Restoration
When concrete has deteriorated to the point that the large aggregate is
showing, the area may require restoration prior to coating application.
Consult the Enviroguard Technical Service Department.
Treatment of Joints, Terminations and Penetrations
When treatment of joints, terminations and penetrations is required,
consult Enviroguard Technical Service Department.
Application
Before starting flooring application, it is recommended that the applicator
read all available safety data including, but not limited to, OSHA approved
material safety data sheet, product data sheet and backup label.
Packaging
Material is packaged in pre-measured, unitized one and five-gallon or bulk
containers consisting of Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener).
For bulk containers, bulking tools are supplied with each bulk unit.
