XV Software for Death
Seige arrived home in the middle of the day tired from the trip and busy thinking of how he would formulate a plan of attack. He knew getting the men out of school would keep them from being sitting ducks, but there was still too much he didn’t know. He felt his director had the answers to most of his ques- tions. As close as Matthew had gotten to his men, Seige felt he was a primary link in the net.
Arriving home Seige jumped from his car and grabbed the mail from the box. He burst into the house and ran upstairs, moving rapidly from room to room then finally bolting downstairs. Relieved that no altercation had occurred, he settled in his easy chair, laid the mail beside him, and hurriedly grabbed the phone. He had just remembered to call his wife. However when he called Jennifer, she was at lunch, and he didn’t bother to leave a message.
He started worrying about his boys but decided not to call the nursery to preclude upsetting them unnecessarily. What could they do anyway but panic, so he decided to read mail to calm himself.
“Hello,” he said, catching the phone before the first ring concluded.
“Seige! What are you doing there?” asked Visara. “I was just calling your wife to have you call me when you got in.”
“What’s up?” Seige quizzed.
“Something you would not believe. I can’t trust this to a phone, so I’m on my way.”
