“We’re almost there,” Sky disclosed. “Now when the car stops . . .”
“We know,” interrupted Sienna, “stay in the car until you go in and check things out. You’ll let us know when its safe.”
Sky turned right and continued into the garage.
“I think we have a place for you in our organization,” he whispered, eyes squinting at Sienna with a slight smile on his face.
“Even though we’re pretty good at taking care of ourselves, were getting used to being taken care of by you guys.”
“Smart girl.” Sky turned to leave the car.
Both ladies felt that he was gone for what seemed to be a long time, and were getting a little edgy.
“All clear,” Sky reported, startling both women.
You had us worried there for a second. Are you sure every- thing is all right?” Jennifer asked.
“I’m sure everything is all right,” said Sky, a little worried, “and I think I need to be outside to make sure you stay secure.” “What do you mean? Don’t tell me you’re leaving us here
alone!”
“You won’t ever be alone, Ma’am. I will be with you. It’s just
that if someone surrounds us, we can all be easily trapped in- side. I’m assuming no one followed us. But just in case they did, I’ll be very close covering you two so you can get a good night’s rest. Besides, I can clear anyone quicker being outside than I can inside. Please try to relax and trust your guardian.”
“I do trust you. I’m just not feeling too comfortable with us here alone.”
“Mom, he’s a professional. Remember what you tell clients who try to tell you how to do your job,” Sienna cautioned.
Jennifer turned to look at her, and both slowly broke into laughter.
“You got a brain on your hands there, Ma’am.”
“And she’s right. You know what you’re doing, and I shouldn’t be getting in your way.”
