“I’ve been off and sleeping mostly all day. It’s my turn to make sure you can get some. Okay?”
“Okay,” Sienna agreed, running up and jumping into his arms. “Thank you, Mr. Sky. We really appreciate you.”
“You’re welcome. And now, your guardian angel is going up above to watch over you.”
He walked nonchalantly down the first street casually look- ing and pretending to enjoy the scenery. He crossed the street, turned the corner casually and disappeared. He moved through alleys and areas he was intimately familiar with until he arrived at his favorite lookout perch. He had made sure the security lights were working to give him a good field of fire all around. No place was left to chance in case of intruders. He pulled off his jacket and relieved himself of the rucksack from his body. Quickly removing its contents, Sky laid the pieces neatly in front of him.
“Okay,” he whispered holding his stopwatch. “Let’s see if I’m still as good as I think I am. Let’s see if I can beat my all time record.”
“Click. The stopwatch moved him into action. His hands became blurs moving at super speed from the conditioning he had acquired.
“Whoa,” he thought, as he pressed his stopwatch the second time. “I didn’t even think about this one. I just did it.”
Suddenly fear swept over him like a heater swung close to his head. He threw his weapon into his shoulder and scanned the area very rapidly.
“I’d better keep my mind on what I’m doing. This is more than a job, it’s Seige’s family and no margin for error.”
He noticed the kill zone around the house well lit as he swept the riflescope toward the house. The far side has a fence with noisemakers on it he noticed taking inventory. The near side and right are clearly accessible he assured himself. He contin- ued to scan to the left and spotted a weapon turning toward him.
Sky quickly rolled from the edge shielding his weapon as he moved.
