 2030-JONE
Tom sat on the bed waiting as Seige sat on the chair in front of him, and Marcus sat in a chair at the foot of the bed.
“Okay, Tom, I remember you now,” Seige pointed out. And as I recall, when you got off last time, the judge said he didn’t ever expect to see your face again in life. Correct me if I am wrong.”
“That’s true,” Tom admitted. And I know what I said, but Corin killed my sister. And I have been trying to get close enough to kill him ever since. I know that sounds bad, but trust me. It really is a long story, and if the mission before last hadn’t gone bad, I would have gotten my chance.”
“Tell me about that mission.
“We were supposed to ambush some guys who were trying to hit one of our major manufacturing plants on Boxwood Street.”
“You mean that place I read about that blew up a while back?” Marcus questioned.
“Yeah. That’s the one.”
“I didn’t read about anyone getting any drugs from that place,” Seige said.
“That’s ‘cause it’s underground. It’s a regular fortress and has an outlet into a water store.”
“Water store?” Seige wondered.
“Think about how often anyone ever checks on water stores,” Tom said. “They just assume they are doing things right. We use the same bottles for water to put the drugs in and keep them on the truck in the rear. We just distribute the drug in the open and act like everything is normal. We even leave the back of the truck open sometimes for effect. When you do that, people think you’re legit and who suspects? Besides, what idiot is gonna knock over a water truck unless there’s a tornado in the area? Anyway, said Tom if that mission had gone the way I planned it, I would have been in a position to put the boss down permanently. But unfortunately his daughter didn’t get her smarts from his side of the family.”
“So she got killed,” Marcus surmised.
